A Liverpool Building Surveying Practice Built on Independence & Expertise

JGL Associates is a RICS regulated building surveying practice based in West Derby, Liverpool. We provide independent, professional property surveys to homebuyers, landlords, property investors and legal professionals across Liverpool, Merseyside and the wider North West.

We work exclusively in residential surveying. That focus means we bring deep, specialist knowledge to every instruction — whether it is a first-time buyer purchasing a terraced house in Wavertree, a landlord building a portfolio in Bootle, or a solicitor requiring an expert witness report for civil proceedings.

Our practice is built on three principles: independence, transparency and clear communication. We have no commercial relationships with estate agents, developers or mortgage lenders. James Lindsey is the principal surveyor at JGL Associates. A Chartered Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and a Full Member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA), James brings a rare breadth of professional qualification to every survey he carries out.

With extensive experience inspecting residential properties across Liverpool and Merseyside — from Victorian terraces and Edwardian semis to modern new builds and converted apartments — James provides a thorough, detailed assessment that gives clients the full picture of a property's condition before they commit to a purchase.

James also holds the RICS Expert Witness Certificate, making him one of a small number of surveyors in Liverpool qualified to produce CPR Part 35 compliant expert witness reports for property and construction disputes in civil proceedings. As an RPSA member, he is additionally qualified to carry out the specialist Buy-to-Let Homebuyer Survey — designed exclusively for landlords and property investors.

Our principal surveyor holds the RICS Expert Witness Certificate, making JGL Associates uniquely qualified to provide CPR Part 35 compliant expert witness reports for property and construction disputes in the civil courts.
